Vaccinations teams in the county are prepping for what they hope will be a busy week of vaccinating 5-11 year-olds and 12-15 year-olds during half-term next week.
In addition to the now regular pop-up vaccinations sessions around the county, a number of which will continue to offer vaccinations to 5-11 and 12-15 year-olds without the need for an appointment, the vaccination team at PRSA Mass Vaccination Centre, Boston, will also be running a series of walk-in sessions on-site for 5-11 and 12-15 year-olds.
“We try and time our pop-up sessions where possible to allow for school-aged children to attend and, of course, half-term week gives us more flexibility to be able to do this,” explains Rebecca Neno, Director of Covid and Influenza Vaccination Programmes, NHS Lincolnshire CCG.
“The pop-up sessions allow us to take the vaccination out to people and our new vaccination bus will help hugely with this, but the key benefit the pop-ups bring – including those for school-aged children – is that no appointment is necessary. Whether you’re coming along to get vaccinated yourself or you are bringing your child for their vaccination, you can just turn up without pre-booking. All that we ask if you are bringing your child to be vaccinated is that, as their parent/guardian, you are present to consent.”
The current list of pop-up locations, including those using the vaccination bus, can be found below and also at www.lincolnshireccg.nhs.uk/grabajab along with other information on the covid vaccination programme. For people who prefer to book an appointment, rather than attend a pop-up or walk-in session, this can be done by visiting the National Booking System or by calling 119.
“Our website www.lincolnshireccg.nhs.uk/grabajab is the best place to check where we are running pop-ups and walk-in sessions, and we update it regularly throughout the week. In addition, we share the same information via our Twitter and Facebook accounts and we are trying to push this information out to as many local groups as we can via social media,” adds Rebecca.
